MovieCat! Review

MovieCat! by OtherWise Games is a great movie trivia game for your iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. I am playing it on the iPad and it needs to be scaled up to fill the screen. Still this is a very fun game.

In this game you get nine lives. When you answer questions correctly you get points and if you answer incorrectly you lose a life or lives depending on what difficulty you play on. The object is to get through five rounds and get to the last question without losing all your lives. There are many categories of questions in this game including matching, general trivia, pick three, and DVD titles. Most of these are pretty good except for DVD Titles. This category kind of feels like filler to me. Also some of the clues given during these questions seem really vague. You may do well at these if you have a very large DVD collection.

There are also a few categories that use the cats in order to ask questions. These are the dressing room, double feature, and screening room questions.

The dressing room gives you three cats each wearing a different costume. You have to then answer what movie the costumes came from:

In Double Feature you are given two movie posters and you need to pick the actor/actress that appears in both movies. A small hint, the person in both movies is not always in the posters.

Then you have the Screening Room where you are given scene from a movie with the cats in the scene.

This is a very addicting and fun game. Also the price is just $2.99 which I think is very reasonable. They will also be releasing other question packs in the future. There is only one pack available for purchase right now. The extra question pack they are offering right now is going for 99 cents.

The only thing that would make this game even better would be some kind of multiplayer, over the internet or otherwise. Right now it is a single player only game and multiplayer would be great in a future update.

I highly recommend this game to fans of trivia games and fans of movies.

  • A great trivia game
  • Hilarious use of the cats in some of the categories
  • Tons of questions with more question packs to come
  • Very reasonable price at $2.99

  • No multiplayer
  • The DVD Chapters catagory feels like filler
