Boom Blox: Bash Party Review

BoomBlox

I missed out on the original Boom Blox game from 2008. I had heard a lot about it and when saw they were releasing a follow-up game I made a point of getting it. I am so glad I did. This is one of the best puzzle games I’ve ever played and it is just a heck of a lot of fun.

The entire concept reminds me of my childhood when my friend and I would build these huge cities out of blocks, containers, and whatever other things we could find. We would then proceed to throw stuff at these cities and see how much damage we could do. One time we had a city on a large rug and we each grabbed an end and snapped it to create a huge shock wave to make the buildings fall over. It was a lot of fun. Boom Blox reminds me of this and how much fun it was.

The concept is so simple yet it is so addictive and fun it makes for one of the best games I’ve played all year, if not in my entire life. There are several modes and variations on this concept that it never gets old. You also have all kinds of tools at your disposal to topples these blocks. You have baseballs, bowling balls, slingshots, chemical blocks, virus balls and so on. There are so many puzzles to play that the game will entertain for a long time.

You can also create your own levels and share them with other players through Nintendo Wi-Fi. This extends the replay value of this game straight through the roof.

I know some people will dismiss a game like this but they are truly missing out on a great time if they do. Gamers everywhere should give Boom Blox: Bash Party a try, you won’t regret it.

Pros:

  • Incredibly simple, addictive fun
  • Tons of puzzles/levels to play
  • Downloadable levels through Nintendo Wi-Fi

Cons:

  • None really…maybe a sore arm but that is about it.
