Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD Review

I recently downloaded the trial version of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD for the Xbox 360. Here are my thoughts on what I played. First off the game is overpriced in my opinion. it costs 1,200 Microsoft points which comes out to be about $15. I think a better price point would have been 800 points, or $8. I don’t feel you really get $15 worth of value out of the game. Granted I didn’t buy the full version but from what it includes I don’t feel its worth $15. You only get seven levels to play. These are levels from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2. They should have included a few more levels.

Also there is no create a skater or create a park mode included in this game. You have to choose from one of the real life skaters included. There also have been some skaters that don’t show up. Probably some kind of licensing issue. However not including the ability to create a skater is a huge negative.

The music has also been cut down quite considerably. There is a very small set of songs from both the original games that make it into this remake. Again probably licensing issues with the music.

There is included online multiplayer modes. However with only playing the trial I couldn’t try them out. There will be future DLC packs with other levels coming in the future according to the publisher.

Overall I can’t recommend getting this game. For the high price point, lack of levels and lack of a create a skater mode. If you have the originals I’d recommend just playing them. Granted the visuals are dated but you get the entire experience with those games and not a cobbled together mess.
