Random Star Trek Episodes…Weekend Update

Posted: August 15, 2011 in Star Trek

Last week and this weekend I watched a few Star Trek episodes. Here they are.

First I watched episode twenty two of season one of the original series, “Space Seed.” This is the episode where the Enterprise and crew meet Khan. They come across the SS Botany Bar and find several people in stasis. They revive them along with Khan. Soon Khan gets ideas of taking over the ship. This episode is the setup for Star Trek 2 – The Wrath of Khan. It is a very good episode and provides the crew with quite a challenge.

I then watched episode twenty one of The Next Generation, “Arsenal of Freedom.” This is kind of a silly episode. The Enterprise comes across a planet that has not given off any life signs for years. Riker, Data, Yar, and eventually Picard and Crusher gets stuck on this planet. Geordi takes temporary command of the Enterprise and has to help find a way to rescue them. This episode was all right.

I also watched episode sixteen of season two of the original series, “The Gamesters of Triskelion.” This was a pretty bad episode. Kirk, Uhura, and Chekov gets mysteriously transported to a planet where they are captured and forced to train to become some form of gladiators. Probably one of the worst episodes from the original series.

Finally I watched episode twenty two of season three of Voyager, “Real Life.” This episode was interesting as it was mainly about the Doctor. He is one of the more interesting characters on Voyager and this episode was good from that perspective. There was some other side story about Voyager investigating something but it was really not important. The Doctor has a holographic family in this episode that is perfect in every way.  He invites Torres and some others to have dinner with them. Torres says they are too perfect and the Doctor allows her to make them more realistic. Next time he runs the program his family life is far from perfect. This episode takes place mainly in the holodeck. A pretty good episode.
