Bond, James Bond

Every geek/nerd should watch every James Bond movie ever made. These are a heck of a lot of fun to watch. Try to watch them in order if possible. You’ll see the natural progression of the movies better that way. Of course there are some movies that are kind of cheesy but they are still quite fun. I remember TBS used to have a huge James Bond marathon every December for a while. I’m not sure if they still do this or not. It was always a lot of fun when they did this though. So get out there and watch some 007!

Geeky Costumes

Every geek/nerd should dress up as something geeky/nerdy or with a cult following. When I was ten I dressed up as Mario for Halloween one year. More recently I’ve dressed up as somebody “on a boat” based on the Lonely Island music video. I had a shirt that said “I’m On A Boat”, a sailor style hat and a naval coat. It was pretty simple and funny also. This year I’ll be going as Bill Lumburgh from Office Space. A pretty simple costume but many people know that movie and character very well. Another very simple costume is just to wear a black hoodie and say you’re Mark Zuckerberg and maybe tape a piece of paper to your hoodie saying you created Facebook. A simple yet effective costume.

Carve A Geeky/Nerdy Pumpkin

With Halloween coming up at the end of the week every geek/nerd should carve at least one geeky/nerdy pumpkin. When I was maybe four or five my dad and I carved a pretty awesome Darth Vader pumpkin. Then in 1999 I tried to carve a Darth Maul pumpkin. That one turned out all right but not near as good as the Darth Vader.

Drink a cup of Earl Grey Tea.

Every geek/nerd especially the ones that are Star Trek fans should drink a cup of Earl Gray tea. This is Captain Picard’s beverage of choice and it is actually a pretty good tea. This can be found in the tea section of pretty much any grocery store. Also remember before you drink it you should yell “Tea…Earl Grey…Hot!” in your best Patrick Stewart voice. Engage!

Play a Geeky/Nerdy Song On A Real Instrument

Every geek/nerd should probably learn to play something on a real instrument. There are song resources all over the internet for guitar tabs and ocarina sheet music that cover everything from video games to movies and beyond. I have an ocarina modeled after the Ocarina of Time from the classic N64 game as well as an Epiphone SG electric guitar. Ocarinas are fairly inexpensive and very easy to learn how to play. There is also a great iPhone/iPod Touch ocarina app called Ocarina that only costs 99 cents. So get out there and learn to play some awesome geeky music on a real instrument. I’m working on learning Still Alive from Portal on my ocarina.

Here is an excellent source for ocarina music.

Own A Geeky/Nerdy Shirt

Every geek/nerd should own at least one geeky/nerdy shirt or other piece of clothing. These can be from anything from video games, movies, comic books, or computing to just name a few and there are many places to buy these online or in stores. Such places include J!nx, ThinkGeek, and Hot Topic. One of my favorite shirts is my Initech shirt from Office Space which I found on Amazon.com a few years ago:
